The SILM workshop’s goal is to discuss experiences, tools, and approaches for dealing with security in software/hardware interfaces. On the one hand, the organizers say that we all need to improve our understanding of the security assurances given by existing hardware architectures against software assaults, particularly those targeting micro-architecture. This can be accomplished by discovering new vulnerabilities using reverse engineering, fuzzing, or other attack methods. On the other side, we must suggest new designs that are more resilient to software threats. To safeguard the software stack, these designs should rely on hardware-based security methods. Formally describing and proving the security assurances provided by such systems is one of the issues.
This third edition of the SILM workshop aims to provide a venue for academics and practitioners working on the security of software/hardware interfaces from academia, business, and government.
